Pine
Mountain Buddhist Temple
& Meditation Retreat
Temple
Rules
- As
all activities of our daily life have a spiritual meaning and effect,
we ask that guests please respect the following ;
- Please
treat other people, animals and Temple property with respect and
gratitude.
- To
participate wholeheartedly in all Temple activities and to be
punctual in following the schedule is to learn to drop likes and
dislikes. To let go of likes and dislikes is to begin to see how the
Buddha’s Truth can be found in all things
at all times.
- If
you wish to do more meditation or need extra rest, please talk to a
monk to arrange this. Working meditation is always adaptable to your
individual capacity.
- Please
do not engage in other religious practices during your stay.
- The
Temple is not a place to seek a sexual relationship or engage in
flirtatious behavior.
- Please
wear loose fitting, respectful clothing for meditation and meals.
Tight-fitting or low-cut clothing, tank tops, mini skirts and
leggings are not appropriate; shirts should be worn at all times. For
safety reasons we ask that people
wear shoes outdoors.
- Please
do not use or bring alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, musical
instruments or tapes, cell phones, radios, pets, fire arms, or other
weapons.
- Please do not read books
other than those available at the Temple, while you are staying at the
temple.
- Please
do not rise before the scheduled time so as not to disturb others.
- Out
of consideration for others, please do not use highly scented lotions
or cosmetics.
- We
ask that conversations be kept to a minimum during working meditation
periods; meals are often held in silence.
- Vegetarian
(but not vegan)
food is served at the meals; please take as much food as you need, and
eat what you take. If you have special dietary needs, please talk to
one of the monks.
- If
there is anything about the teaching or practice you do not
understand, or have difficulty with, please feel free to consult one of
the monks.
